A dreary cool Sunday, it's early afternoon & autumn has arrived here in New York City. Still in my robe & a cup of coffee bedside- the uninvited jolt of my buzzer goes ignored. Moments later, a remembrance! Slipping on my sandals I dash down 3 flights of stairs hoping the box will be there and that my robe won't open. Inside the entrance, large, beige & wrapped with Amazon tape, happily, robe still in check, I lug the surprisingly heavy box into my bedroom. Upon opening- a sight to behold- on the cover- with neither title nor text, a beautifully clear image of Marilyn stands alone gazing back at the viewer. On the back- no summary, not one letter- only an image of a "candid" Marilyn in bed, whose eyes, once again, seemingly meet the reader. With only the binder reserved for the title, the cover & back invoke a feeling of startling intimacy, their lush quality and fine attention to detail set the tone that runs consistently throughout the book. Cozying up with the heavy book & a cup of coffee, for the 1st time I experience a book from the beginning to the end. Having long considered Milton Greene Marilyn's best photographer I've been hoping for his archives to be shared with the world. Thank you Joshua Logan- you've created a masterpiece cementing your father's legacy as a Fine Artist- a truly magnificent photographer and you've provided a real jewel for Marilyn Monroe fans. Bravo!
Wow. Just wow. I am a fan of both Marilyn and classic photography, and nothing comes close to this collection. Milton Greene captures Marilyn's soul in a way no other photographer did. The world owes a debt of gratitude to Greene's son, Joshua, for restoring this body of work. Highly recommended for any fan.
I was expecting a fantastic photobook when I bought it. When I actually received the book, opened it up and saw the first photos I got chills. As I continued to flip through the pages I kept getting chills. This book goes beyond expectations and is worth every dollar! It's amazing that we get to own these photos of Marilyn in such large, high quality prints. Thank you to Joshua Greene for putting a great effort into this book.Buy it, people!!
This is one of the most beautiful books. It is a large coffee table style book. It is beautifully bound and printed well. I was skeptical when I read the collection included never before seen images. But guess what? There are never before seen images in this book. If you are a Marilyn fan this book is a must have. Some of my favorite images were taken by Milton Greene, his son Joshua has taken great care to preserve and curate this lovely collection. The value is exceptional. This will be a Marilyn Monroe must have. Well done!
